Our Team Beat The punishMINT 400 and Won!

We didn’t stand on the podium, we weren’t the fastest car out there, we did not pose excitement for all the photographers and we may not make the video but our Team - The Dirt Mob, scored a major victory when it comes to Team Work and a “never say die” attitude - a mental state that pushed the FReeConferenceCall.com, #177 Truggy across the finish line with time to spare.

Desert Racing is a sport of skill, experience, lots of hard work, some money, some luck but most of all it’s about The Team. Without this team, no car or truck ever makes it to the starting line and most definitely, no vehicle ever makes it makes it to the finish line.

Now for the whole story.. It’s a good one!

The right to have children should be a marketable commodity, bought and traded by individuals but absolutely limited by the state.
—Kenneth Boulding, originator of the “Spaceship Earth”
concept (as quoted by William Tucker in Progress and Privilege, 1982)

We have wished, we ecofreaks, for a disaster or for a social change to come and bomb us into Stone Age, where we might live like Indians in our valley, with our localism, our appropriate technology, our gardens, our homemade religion—guilt-free at last!
—Stewart Brand (writing in the Whole Earth Catalogue).

Free Enterprise really means rich people get richer. They have the freedom to exploit and psychologically rape their fellow human beings in the process…. Capitalism is destroying the earth.
—Helen Caldicott, Union of Concerned Scientists

We must make this an insecure and inhospitable place for capitalists and their projects…. We must reclaim the roads and plowed land, halt dam construction, tear down existing dams, free shackled rivers and return to wilderness millions of tens of millions of acres of presently settled land.
    —David Foreman, Earth First!

Everything we have developed over the last 100 years should be destroyed.

These days, explicit arguments in favor of fascism and the ideology of unlimited state power are, how shall I put this, ineffective at convincing the masses. Though people still adore the fascist ideology of the boundless power of the state and its fusion of public and private business, this is only so long as it is not given its proper name. These days, people prefer their fascism to be cloaked in disingenuous and deceptive language that disguises its true nature. All those old slogans about the supreme state and the suppression of the individual to the collective are so early 20th century! Far better to have your leaders pay lip service to "freedom" and "human rights" as they coercively mold you into a docile little manikin fit for their desired bureaucratic utopia.

Modern authoritarian movements tend to adopt the strategy of avoiding talking about or even hinting at the coercion they will adopt to deal with those opposed to the supreme rule of the all-powerful state apparatus. They deny that they are fascist movements and instead adopt a slew of fanciful euphemisms for the coercive policies they propose to inflict on their brutalized subjects. You silly fool! They are not robbing people — they are just "asking them to pay their fair share." They are not micromanaging people's lives — they are just "looking after their health and welfare." They are not silencing dissent — they are just "ensuring tolerance" and fighting "hate." They are not trespassing against private property — they are just "managing the economy." They are not enslaving people — they are just "encouraging volunteerism." Didn't you realize?

Of course, every so often, a modern fascist movement develops such a degree of hubris that it decides to dispense with all the euphemisms and denials and openly display the coercive means underlying its ambitions. After all, surely the poor rubes in the population must have figured it out anyway! Why not just level with them for a moment and have a little chuckle?

"Global Warming: The Cold, Hard Facts?
    By Timothy Ball
    Monday, February 5, 2007

Global Warming, as we think we know it, doesn't exist. And I am not the only one trying to make people open up their eyes and see the truth. But few listen, despite the fact that I was one of the first Canadian Ph.Ds. in Climatology and I have an extensive background in climatology, especially the reconstruction of past climates and the impact of climate change on human history and the human condition. Few listen, even though I have a Ph.D, (Doctor of Science) from the University of London, England and was a climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg. For some reason (actually for many), the World is not listening. Here is why.

What would happen if tomorrow we were told that, after all, the Earth is flat? It would probably be the most important piece of news in the media and would generate a lot of debate. So why is it that when scientists who have studied the Global Warming phenomenon for years say that humans are not the cause nobody listens? Why does no one acknowledge that the Emperor has no clothes on?

Believe it or not, Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). This in fact is the greatest deception in the history of science. We are wasting time, energy and trillions of dollars while creating unnecessary fear and consternation over an issue with no scientific justification. ...

PJC> A great post by Tom Willis, a racing community veteran. Tom defines our community so very well. Please take a moment to read his words. The original post was made at www.race-Dezert.com and Tom has allowed Off-road.org to present his insight here.

OK, since Fish plugged RDC you can be sure that a lot more curious people are reading these threads. We should probably welcome them, since they've had the chance to snoop around and try to dig up dirt. Here's a tip: stop wasting your time stalking the race promoter. There is no story there. They live in a little house in a lower income neighborhood where tamale vendors and cars parked on the lawn are not unusual. No celebrities next door, no ocean view, and you might step on a horse turd on the sidewalk. There is no sleek corporate office with a helipad; they don't even own a new car. So much for the "heartless promoter making millions" angle. And they have followed or exceeded every BLM regulation since they started. You won't find a history of negligence in this series. If you studied their books you would come to the conclusion that there ain't no money to be made in a local grass-roots offroad series.

So why did they do it? Why roll the dice and risk losing what little they started with to work in the most stressful occupation around? A former race promoter actually died of a heart attack during a Barstow race. Ponder that for a minute.

Is there something in this life more important that chasing dollars? Yup, you just found it.

This hateful group of Eco- Fascists come out from under their rocks to prey upon the public's feelings. You knew they could not be far behind.

Lucerne Valley, Ca– The California 200 was not yet 24 hours old, the bodies of the tragic accident victims had not even obtained room temperature and the Environmental Wackos were trying to shut down Johnson Valley OHV Area.

The LA Times is reporting that Kieran Suckling, executive director of the Center for Biological Diversity, is worried about off-road enthusiasts. Their newest trick is to say that the BLM does not have the resources to allow OHV activity.

Deadly crash stirs off-road racing debate – latimes.com
Environmental groups said they have long complained that the Bureau of Land Management, which issued permits for Saturday’s race, lacks the staff and ability to regulate off-road events that attract large crowds.“The feds have allowed a ‘Mad Max’ atmosphere to develop with too many people and too many machines crammed into too little space,” said Kieran Suckling, executive director of the Center for Biological Diversity, a nonprofit environmental protection group that has had previous clashes with . The feds don’t have the resources, and apparently not the interest, to regulate off-road vehicles properly.”

Saturday’s crash was tragic but inevitable, Suckling said.
“You can’t put these huge crowds together with fast and powerful machines and not expect these kinds of accidents,” he said. “Our collective failure to rein in excessive off-road vehicle use is not only destroying the ecosystem but killing people. The federal government clearly does not have the manpower to sufficiently organize and regulate these events, and if you don’t have the manpower to do it safely, you shouldn’t be doing it at all.”
Many of us said right here, the Eco-Loons would use this as a way of closing off human access to Public Lands. ...

Two versions of the American dream now stand in sharp contrast. One views the money you earned as yours and best allocated by you. It champions the traditional American dream, which has played out millions of times through generations of Americans, of improving one’s lot in life and the entrepreneurial spirit of daring to dream and to build big. The other believes that the federal government, using taxpayers’ money, should play a major role in leveling out the nation’s wealth to guarantee outcomes to all, regardless of effort. How America chooses between these two views of the role of government, at this crucial juncture, will have everything to do with the future we and our children and our children’s children will enjoy.

President Barack Obama clearly believes in the larger government view. In his Inaugural Address, he said, “Now there are some who question the scale of our ambitions – who suggest our system cannot tolerate big plans…The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works—whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified.” With a federal deficit of nearly one and a half trillion dollars for 2009 and deficit projections of not less than a half a trillion dollars over the next ten years, the question of whether government is too big or too small is very relevant, even vital to the future of the nation.

President Obama has specifically invited us as Recreationists to be involved in his America's Great Outdoor Initiative.

He has aksed us to join the conversation by VOTING for IDEAS submitted by the public. This is really EASY to do and only takes a few minutes. His Team will present the results to the President on 11/15/10.

Right now most of the folks voting are the vocal minority who seek to lock the public off public lands, so your VOTES are badly needed.

Below are some good ideas that deserve to be PROMOTED and in the box below that are ones that we think should be DEMOTED
